CAT GROWS WINGS

A Chinese woman claims her cat has grown wings

Granny Feng's tom cat has sprouted two hairy 4ins long wings, reports the Huashang News.

"At first, they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly, and after a month there were two wings," she said.

Feng, of Xianyang city, Shaanxi province, says the wings, which contain bones, make her pet look like a 'cat angel'.

Her explanation is that the cat sprouted the wings after being sexually harassed.

"A month ago, many female cats in heat came to harass him, and then the wings started to grow," she said.

However, experts say the phenomenon is more likely down to a gene mutation, and say it shouldn't prevent the cat living a normal life.

MORMON MASSACRE

The following is from the religion news blog:

It was 11 September, a crystal-clear morning with the first hint of autumn crispness, as though a cynical, mocking God had set the stage for what would be the worst act of religiously inspired terrorism in US history.

But we are not talking about New York or Washington, DC in 2001. The setting was the uplands of remote south-eastern Utah, exactly 150 years ago, in a corner of an American West that was still a violent work-in-progress. Within minutes, some 140 pioneers - a wagon-train of men, women and children headed for California - lay dead in a massacre that would not be surpassed until the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995.

For decades, the has lain relatively undisturbed at the margins of the national consciousness. But it is about to be projected centre-stage. Next month, September Dawn, a new film by the writer and director Christopher Cain that purports to recount at last the true story of that dreadful day, will be released in the US. And America will be revisiting this most shameful act in the annals of the Mormon Church as, for the first time, a candidate from a faith still best known for its long-abandoned cult of polygamy has a serious shot at the Presidency.

XM SUSPENDES OPIE AND ANTHONY

The following story was found at:http://orbitcast.com/

XM Satellite Radio has suspended Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, hosts of "The Opie & Anthony Show" and ceased broadcast of the show for 30 days, effective immediately.
XM has said they deplored the comments aired on "The Opie & Anthony Show" last week. At the time, the company strongly expressed its views to Opie and Anthony, and they issued an immediate apology.
Comments made by Opie and Anthony on yesterday's broadcast put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter. The management of XM Radio decided to suspend Opie and Anthony to make clear that our on-air talent must take seriously the responsibility that creative freedom requires of them.

Rape Jokes Still Not Funny

I have yet to see any of the mainstream media cover the story about the comments that Shock Jocks Opie and Anthony made about Condolezza Rice. I have e-mail NPR and CNN about this but I have received no response.

I did come across a great article on yahoo. Here is part of the article with a link so you can read the rest:

Opinion
Stacy Parker Aab: Last Time I Checked, Rape Jokes Still Not Funny

Neither are Opie and Anthony, nor their studio guest "Homeless Charlie." Recently the duo egged on their guest "Homeless Charlie" to discuss how much he'd like to force himself on Condoleezza Rice. They kept laughing as he dragged the names of Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth into their idea of a funny joke.

Opie and Anthony: Forced sex with Condoleeza Rice

The following story and links will contain Graphic Language.

Here at Worldview I try to inform people about what is going on in the world. Shock Jocks are pretty common in our world today. There are people who attempt to be as controversial as they can during their radio shows. Sadly many people in our country find this entertaining and they tune in by the millions. Well it appears that Opie and Anthony have decide to push the envelope a little further and engaged in discussion about forced sex with the Secretary of State. A studio guest, Homeless Charlie, begins describing the scenario as the hosts laugh and encourage him. Anthony talks about the horror for Rice as the guest is "holding her down" and assaulting her. They invite Charlie to be a regular guest.

Here is a link to the audio of the incident: BE WARNED THE LANGUAGE IS EXPLICIT Opie and Anthony

The Drudge Report also has an article about this: You can find at Drudge

Train Carrying Space Shuttle Parts Derails

Was this an accident or is someone trying to sabatoge the space shuttle program?

Here is the story

Train Carrying Space Shuttle Parts Derails in Alabama
By VOA News
02 May 2007

A train carrying parts for U.S. space shuttles derailed Wednesday when a bridge collapsed, but space agency officials say the accident will not delay the next shuttle launch.

NASA says the accident took place in the southeastern state of Alabama, as the train carried segments of solid rocket boosters from their manufacturer in Utah to Cape Canaveral in Florida. At least two people were injured in the incident and were taken to hospitals.

A NASA spokeswoman said the rocket boosters were meant to be used in October and December launches, rather than the upcoming June mission. NASA engineers are traveling to the site of the crash to check the equipment for damage.

The same train suffered a temporary derailment last week while traveling through the state of Kansas.

Freight train with shuttle parts derails

A freight train carrying segments of the space shuttle's solid rocket boosters derailed Wednesday after a recently repaired bridge collapsed over boggy ground, authorities said. Six people aboard the train were reported injured, one critically.

NASA said it was not immediately known whether the equipment was damaged. But space agency spokesman Allard Beutel in Washington said the accident should not delay any shuttle launches.

The trestle collapse was under investigation.

The shuttle's twin boosters are 150 feet tall and consist of four propellant segments each. They are used during liftoff and the first two minutes or so of flight to help the spacecraft break free of Earth's orbit, and are then jettisoned into the sea, after which they are recovered, refurbished and reused.

It was a leak of burning gas between two segments of a solid booster rocket that caused the Challenger explosion that killed seven astronauts in 1986.

"It appears when the train got onto the trestle, the trestle just gave way and sank to the ground," said Mike Rudolphi, an official with the boosters' manufacturer who went to the wreck site. "It's going to be a challenge to get it out of there."

Eight booster segments were on the train, which carried only the shuttle shipment, Rudolphi said. One booster overturned, along with two locomotives and a car carrying six attendants, who were injured.

Two of the injured were airlifted to a hospital in Tuscaloosa, where one was listed as critical and one fair.

The booster segments will probably be sent back to the manufacturer's Utah plant to be examined, Rudolphi said.

The Alabama Emergency Management Agency said the four derailed train cars landed on their side on the ground in the woods next to the tracks, none of the cargo spilled, and there appeared to be no fire.

Twelve rail cars remained upright. It appears those cars didn't overturn because the trestle — about 300 to 400 feet long — sank evenly to the ground, Rudolphi said.

The derailment was in a remote stretch of track near Myrtlewood, about 110 miles southwest of Birmingham. Sheriff's Deputy Kenneth Collier said he was unaware of any threat posed to the public.

"You can't get any further out in the woods than this," he said.

NASA spokesman Kyle Herring said the segments were not scheduled for use during the next shuttle flight, the liftoff of Atlantis on June 8, but for missions in October and December. NASA's solid rocket boosters and their parts are freely interchangeable.

It was the second time in less than a week that the train jumped the tracks while carrying the booster segments across the country from the manufacturer, ATK Launch Systems Group of Promontory, Utah, to Cape Canaveral, Fla., Herring said.

Last Friday, two axles on one car came off the tracks for unknown reasons about 60 miles west of Salina, Kan., while the train was traveling at less than 20 mph, Herring said. The train was back on the tracks after several hours, the spokesman said.

Meridian and Bigbee of Meridian, Miss., was hauling the equipment and owns the trestle, said Mike Williams, a spokesman for Bigbee parent Genesee & Wyoming Inc. of Greenwich, Conn. The bridge was closed for repairs Sunday night and reopened Wednesday morning, he said.

He said that he was unsure of the nature of the repairs but that the bridge was inspected.

NASA officials said two locomotives, a train car behind them, and one car with a shuttle booster overturned. The fuel in the rocket, aluminum perchlorate, has the consistency of a rubber eraser and there was no danger of it igniting, according to NASA.

A spokesman for the manufacturer, Bryce Hallowell, said the train was taking the same route to the Kennedy Space Center that has been used for 30 years or more. The train trip can take more than a week.

The accident was the latest in a run of bad luck for the space agency.

In February, astronaut Lisa Nowak was arrested on charges of trying to kidnap a romantic rival. Later that month, a freak hail storm caused thousands of dents in space shuttle Atlantis' external tank as it sat on the launch pad, delaying the flight for months.

Last month, a worker at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston shot a colleague to death and then killed himself.
