Before 9/11 There Was 12/24

Everyone knows about the terrorist attacks that occurred in the United State on September 11, 2001. The attacks were carried out using hijacked aircraft as weapons. They flew the weapons in to the preplanned targets. Most people after the attacks claimed that no one had ever thought about using planes like this before. Many of these comments were made by people who were ignorant of history. You see before there was September 11, 2001 in the United States, there was December 24, 1994 in Algiers.

On Christmas Eve, 1994, four Islamist extremists are preparing to hijack an Air France plane.

But this was a hijacking with a terrible difference. No political demands. No negotiations over hostages.

The plan was to divert the plane and use it as a missile, a weapon of mass destruction landing in the heart of Paris.

This serves as another great example of why we in American need to know what is going on in the world and we need a grasp of more then just American History but World history.

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to failure!
