Wrong: Depeche Mode

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

I was born with the wrong sign
In the wrong house
With the wrong ascendancy
I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
I used the wrong method with the wrong technique

Wrong
Wrong

There's something wrong with me chemically
Something wrong with me inherently
The wrong mix in the wrong genes
I reached the wrong ends by the wrong means
It was the wrong plan
In the wrong hands
With the wrong theory for the wrong man
The wrong lies, on the wrong vibes
The wrong questions with the wrong replies

Wrong
Wrong

I was marching to the wrong drum
With the wrong scum
Pissing out the wrong energy
Using all the wrong lines
And the wrong signs
With the wrong intensity
I was on the wrong page of the wrong book
With the wrong rendition of the wrong hook
Made the wrong move, every wrong night
With the wrong tune played till it sounded right yeah

Wrong, wrong
(Too long)
Wrong (Too long)
Wrong (Too long)
Wrong (Too long)
Wrong (Too long)

I was born with the wrong sign
In the wrong house
With the wrong ascendancy
I took the wrong road
That led to the wrong tendencies
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time
For the wrong reason and the wrong rhyme
On the wrong day of the wrong week
I used the wrong method with the wrong technique

Wrong!

What's wrong with this song? Or is it just right?

Apparently, the guy in the video ran into the wrong person(s) and got in the wrong car and, well, everything went wrong for that guy.

I think the guy in the video represents the singer. Everything's gone wrong. And he's stuck that way. He is stuck in a wrong society. The car is going the wrong way the whole time - backwards, in the dark of night.

He's a vicitm, trapped, wants out, can't get out. No matter how hard he tries, he can't get right. And it looks as if he will die in a wrong state. He has no hope.

Perhaps this is supposed to echo an unheard cry of society. Perhaps all of society's ills are disguised cries for help, but to no avail.

Onlookers and those in control, though they notice what's wrong, can't help. They just don't seem to understand the situation try as they may.

Maybe there's more depth here, but it just seems simple. This song and video is the latest in a line of dismal, morbid, hopeless voices. It's like grunge is back. Or goth.

How long will socitey cry before its misery ends, only for the lost to end in greater misery?
